Gyeongnam FC vs Ansan Greeners K-league 2 Round 37

Today on 10/28 GyeongnamFC took on Ansan Greeners in their home at Changwon Soccer Center kicking off at 13:30

and I was at the match to scout it

the seats cost 10,000 Wons for adults on the other side of the tunnel and Away Seats

and it costs 15,000 Wons for Seats at the tunnel

Gyeongnam's Starting lineup

Gyeongnam's Centerback Chan-Ouk Lee(이찬욱) made his 5th appearance this season partnering Kang-Hee Lee(이강희) who's already has 32 appearances this season

The Rightback Jun-Jae Lee(이준재), Who has also been capped by the South Korean U-20 Squad was put on a more offensive role overlapping every chance he got making a good partnership with Jae-Hyun Mo(모재현) who played more of an Inverted role to give Jun-Jae Lee more space to overlap sometimes even falling deeper to cover for the attacking fullback.

Castro was the Maestro of the team , while being only 165cm tall, he was putting in killer passes covering back defensively and forming a triangle on the right side with the fullback and inverted winger while Hong-Min Song(송홍민) played more of a Defensive role partnering him.

Ansan Greeners Starting Lineup

Ansan Greeners sitting on the bottom of the table at first sight, I thought they were playing with 6 at the back
as more of the match begun I could see that the wingers on both flanks were falling down as extra defenders when defending and adding extra numbers when attacking
usually 3~4 with the two strikers

the number 10 Gyeong-Ho Roh(노경호) was the technician in the midfield and usually made counter attacks by the fullbacks taking long balls on the other side flank for the wingers to catch

the half ended 1-1 with
Gleyson and Joo-Tae Yoon(윤주태) scored for their teams respectively
Gyeongnam's Goal was kinda lucky scrambling from a corner
but Ansan executed a clean counter attack starting from Gyeongnam's Center back
Lee-Kang Hee's mistake

I was really suprised at how good Jun-Jae Lee was
despite him being given a offensive role as a right back, which he did perfectly, he never let the ball through on his flank showing amazing pace and recovery speed
born on 2003 he's a really young star that not just Gyeongnam but South Korea need to look at for their right back position
But he did show his lack of experience when he seemed to fumble with the ball sometimes and needed some work on his decision making

Jae-Hyun Mo seemed like an absolute Unit at first glance being 184cm tall and possesing explosive pace. He was also good at laying balls off to Jun-Jae Lee when overlapping and sat on a more inverted role following through with his defensive duties falling back to the right back position when needed
but he seemed to be a little light headed and have temperment issues
but hopefully that can be converted to passion in the following matches

Castro was the real engine in the midfield Putting in through balls when needed and defending like Prime N'golo Kante
despite his small size he didn't seem to get pushed around at all by the opposing team and had great Football intelligence and also could shoot with his left which is his weaker foot

Dong-Min Go(고동민) Gyeongnam's Goalkeeper was a modern sweeper keeper calm on the ball giving an option for the defenders to pass to as to Ansan's Goalkeeper Seung-Bin Lee was more of a classical Goalkeeper pulling off save to keep Ansan in the match

both wingers liked to take players on and would make runs behind the overlapping full backs and Ansan's fullbacks would try the pass behind the line for them to catch, and when they had the ball the left winger Beum-Soo Kim(김범수) seemed to like take players on but didn't have much success as Gyeongnam's Right Back Jun-Jae Lee made excellent recovery runs

Also number 10 for Ansan Gyeong-Ho Noh caught my eye as he was very techincal and was the type of player to do a roulette and try a trivella pass, which he did, and seemed give a little spark to Ansan who really needed it.
in the second half both teams made a substitution and Gyeongnam subbed on Sang-Joon Cho(조상준) on for Gleyson. Probably giving some rest against the bottom of the league as Gyeongnam need to look at the matches later on to reach playoffs.

With him coming on he switched positions with Jae-Hyun Mo
and Jae-Hyun Mo played more of an CAM while Sang-Joon Cho played more on the right flank

Ansan made an interesting substitution subbing on Gyeong-Joon Kim(김경준) , a number 9, on for their centerback Yoo-Seop Jeong(정유섭). They put him on top and pulled down their number 7 Han-Sol Choi(최한솔) as a center back and Joo-Tae yoon(윤주태), who had a goal in the first half, as a midfielder. He score a penalty in the second half forcing Gyeongnam to make another change

Gyeongnam subbed on Min-Hyeok lee(이민혁) on for Hyeon-Jin Seol(설현진) and swapped places with castro putting castro on the wing. I thought Castro would play a more inverted role being right footed but he played as a normal winger.
But needing a goal Gyeongnam made another change

needing a goal they subbed on Hyang-Ki Cho(조향기) on for Castro and played on top putting Jae-Hyun Mo back on the right wing and Sang-Jun Cho on the left as an inside forward

And he got an equalizer from a well executed header from a corner making it 2-2

Gyeongnam subbed out Sang-Joon Cho after subbing him on in the half on for Jun-Ha Yoo(유준하). The striker subbed off had alot of chances but showed poor finishing which he seemed to need to work on.

and Gyeongnam's right Fullback Jun-Jae Lee just doesn't seem to get tired. And eventually in the end he got a goal from a good overlap burying it on the far post earning him the MOM. I can't compliment him enough.

The last Sub Jun-Ha yoo also got a Penalty after a hardworking run following a through ball with a fumble from the keeper. Hong-Min Song(송홍민) buried it in the left bottom making it 4-2, he also had a solid performance defensively in the midfield.

Another player that caught my eye was Min-Seo Park, the left back for Gyeongnam. He seemed to be the only left-footed player on the pitch showing great overlapping when Gyeongnam were pushing forward for a goal. Also when protecting the lead at the end, he made excelent tackles and did well defensively being an important asset to Gyeongnam.

As Ansan had a poor game just giving away possesion any chance they had the ball, some players caught my eye. First, Seung-Bin Lee(이승빈), the Goalkeeper seemed to be an excellent shot stopper but the number of shots just got to him in the end.
And the right fullbacks seemed to be amazing this match, Jae-sung Kim(김재성), who is also quite young, was spraying passes up field especially to the left wing and was capable of overlapping and taking the ball himself.
Finally, the striker number 9 Kyeong-Jun Kim seemed very techinical reminding me of Dimitrov Berbatov with his elegent touches and dribbling. Despite him not being able to find the back of the net he seemed like a decent player maybe Gyeongnam might look into .

In the end it was a nice 3 points for Gyeongnam, but proved that they need to tidy their defence especially going into their next match against Gimcheon. And Ansan showed why they were on the bottom of the table giving away too much possession, but showed their goalscoring ability by scoring more than 2 goals in 3 games in a row.

I also wanna thank the Gyeongnam Players for their Fan Service!
